Colorado Injury + Pain Specialists is pleased to announce as a part of their specialty team, Cathy McCoy, DNP. Dr. McCoy will serve as the Nurse Practitioner for CIPS. She is honored to be a part of a distinct and extensive multi-disciplinary approach to the treatment of pain. Dr. McCoy will work with patients in the clinical setting diagnosing disorders, treating conditions, and providing evidence-based health education to individuals for the therapeutics of their chronic and/or acute pain.

Committed to providing healthcare to patients, Dr. McCoy has a vigorous passion with a unique understanding in the workup and treatment of patients with acute and chronic pain. With 30 years in the nursing field and her last 10 in advanced practice, Dr. McCoy not only shoulders a double board certification in Family and Emergency Room practice but is also trained with interventional experience in joint injections, trigger point injection, and Botox injections for migraines. Dr. McCoy's Doctorate degree in Nursing Practice has a specialty component in the complex management of chronic pain. This will offer another diverse level of expertise to the Colorado Injury + Pain Specialists team in our dedicated endeavor to holistically and efficiently improve the outcomes of all patients pursing a better state of well-being from our assistance.

A native to the hills of West Virginia and now a resident of South Carolina, Dr. McCoy has an awareness of both, rural and metropolitan, lifestyles and is focused on assisting others in bettering their quality of life, regardless of any physical and/or emotional barriers. Following several years of wide-ranged experience as a registered nurse, Dr. McCoy completed a double Master's in Family Nurse Practitioner and Nursing Education and Administration at Mountain State University in West Virgina. While practicing as a nurse practitioner and teaching as a professor at a graduate nurse practitioner program, she completed the Doctor of Nursing Practice program at West Virginia University. Her thesis was based on her implementation of a rural multidisciplinary pain management facility where she statically achieved improvement in her patient's quality of life, anxiety, depression and overall pain scores. Dr. McCoy has spent her last 2 years at a level one, trauma center in South Carolina working as a trauma nurse practitioner evaluating, diagnosis, and treating acute traumatic injuries and managing extensively acute pain.

Dr. McCoy savors the outdoors life that Colorado offers in hiking, biking and camping. She feels her greatest learning experiences has come from raising 3 children all with careers in the medical field and avid snowboarders. She and her husband are registered volunteers for the Colorado State Parks and hope to help in the upkeep of such a beautiful state.
